Florida Minimum Wage 2026: $14.00 Now, $15.00 on September 30

Florida’s minimum wage is $14.00 an hour through September 29, 2026 (in effect since September 30, 2025) and $15.00 an hour from September 30, 2026 — the final step of the schedule set by the 2020 constitutional amendment. After that, the constitution returns to inflation indexing: the state calculates an adjusted rate on September 30, 2027, and it takes effect on January 1, 2028. Florida preempts local minimum wage ordinances, so this rate applies uniformly across every city and county in the state.

What this means for hiring

The $15.00 rate applies to hours worked from September 30, 2026, so any job ad, offer letter, or payroll setup for a Florida hourly role that runs past that date should be planned around $15.00 rather than $14.00 (and $11.98 rather than $10.98 for tipped cash wages). Because Florida preempts local wage ordinances, this is the one number to track statewide; there’s no city or county minimum to check separately, unlike California or Illinois.
