Michigan Minimum Wage 2026: $13.73 Now, $15.00 by January 2027
Michigan’s minimum wage is $13.73 an hour, effective January 1, 2026, up from $12.48 in 2025. Under Senate Bill 8, it rises again to $15.00 an hour on January 1, 2027. Tipped employees earn a minimum cash wage of $5.49 an hour, provided they receive at least $8.24 an hour in tips.

What this means for hiring
Michigan has two other rates worth knowing if the role isn’t a standard adult hourly position: minors aged 16–17 can be paid $11.67 an hour, and a $4.25 training wage applies to employees under 20 for their first 90 days. With the jump to $15.00 already set in law for January 2027, a job ad or budget built around $13.73 has a little over a year of shelf life before the number changes again.
