Ohio Minimum Wage 2026: $11.00 an Hour, Adjusted Every January

Ohio’s minimum wage is $11.00 an hour, effective January 1, 2026, up from $10.70 in 2025. A constitutional amendment ties the rate to inflation and adjusts it every January 1st automatically — under Article II, Section 34a, the rate is increased on September 30 each year, effective the following January 1. The 2027 rate had not been published as of September 24, 2026.

What this means for hiring

Ohio’s automatic annual adjustment is easy to miss precisely because there’s no legislative vote to track — the number just changes on schedule every January 1st. Ohio also has two separate exceptions that allow the lower federal rate of $7.25: one for all employees under 16, and one for employers with annual gross receipts of $405,000 or less in 2026 (a threshold indexed each year). Check whether either applies before setting a posted wage.
