How to Recruit Concierges: Hire the Person Residents and Guests Will Remember, and Say Which Desk It Is

To recruit concierges, first say which desk it is: a hotel lobby, a residential or office building, or a senior living community are different jobs to the person applying. Recruit from front desk agents, retail and restaurant hosts, doormen and customer service reps, using Facebook and Instagram job ads with a short mobile application. Lead with pay, the shift and the setting, screen for availability and service experience rather than years as a concierge, and call applicants the same day.

Who you are actually hiring

BLS counts concierges as their own occupation. It had 50,200 jobs in 2025 and is projected to reach 51,500 by 2035 (2.6 percent growth), with about 6,900 openings a year (BLS Employment Projections 2025-35). The median annual wage was $38,950 in May 2025. BLS lists a high school diploma or equivalent as the typical entry education, no required work experience, and moderate-term on-the-job training.

In other words, concierges are made on the job. The people who become great ones already have the temperament: calm under pressure, good with names, happy to solve a stranger's problem. Recruit for that temperament and train the local knowledge, the property systems and the house standards.

Which concierge job are you filling?

Candidates read "concierge" and picture a hotel lobby. If your desk is somewhere else, say so in the first line, because the work and the draw are different.

Where to find concierges

  • Front desk agents and night auditors. They already know property management systems and guest service. Our front desk interview questions work well for concierge candidates too.
  • Restaurant hosts and servers. They know the local dining scene, handle a crowd at the door and read people fast.
  • Retail and customer service reps. Strong for residential and office desks where the job is mostly requests and problem-solving.
  • Doormen, valets and bell staff. A natural step up inside the hotel or building.
  • Social job ads. People in service jobs spend their breaks on Facebook and Instagram. Meta's Employment special ad category requires a location radius of at least 15 miles and bars age, gender and ZIP code targeting (see our Meta special ad category explainer).

What to pay concierges

The BLS median annual wage for concierges was $38,950 in May 2025. Advertise an hourly rate, the shift differential for overnight or weekend coverage if you pay one, and any gratuities or service charges the role shares. Our concierge job description has the wage section and a template you can adapt by setting.

How to write the concierge job ad

Sample headlines
Hotel Concierge: help guests love our city. Evening shift, paid training.
Residential Concierge: steady weekday hours in a building where residents know you by name.
Front Desk Concierge for our senior living community. Day shift, benefits, no experience needed.

In the body, list the shift (and whether it rotates), what the desk handles, any systems you use, language skills that help, the dress code or uniform, and whether you train. If you hire people without concierge experience, say so directly: it widens the pool more than any other line.

Screening questions for a mobile application

  • Which shifts can you work? (Days, evenings, overnight, weekends. Multiple choice.)
  • Have you worked in a guest-facing role? (Hotel front desk, restaurant host, retail, customer service, none yet.)
  • Do you speak any languages besides English? (Not a knockout, but useful for many desks.)
  • When can you start?

Leave out resume uploads and years-of-concierge-experience knockouts. BLS lists no required work experience for the role, so an experience cutoff mostly removes people you could train.

Speed and follow-up

Service workers apply to several jobs at once and take the first reasonable offer. Call or text within hours, interview in person at the desk, and let them watch a shift. Boostpoint Connect, an add-on to Boostpoint Attract, texts every applicant the moment they apply and runs follow-up sequences from a shared inbox.

What a concierge applicant costs on social

Boostpoint's 2026 benchmark does not report concierges as their own role family, so the fair reference is the overall picture: across 891 Boostpoint-managed campaigns on Meta, the median campaign cost $13.88 per applicant and the volume-weighted average was $8.02. Campaigns where more than 35 percent of clickers finished the form ran $1.61 per applicant (Boostpoint 2026 Social Job Advertising Benchmark). Cost per applicant is not cost per hire.

Training and keeping concierges past the first 90 days

Because the role is learned on the job, the first month decides whether a new concierge stays. Pair each hire with an experienced desk lead for their first shifts, give them a written list of the requests your desk gets most (and the answers), and walk them through the neighborhood or the building so they can speak from experience. Check in at 30 and 60 days. A concierge who feels prepared handles the hard guest well; one who was left alone at the desk on day two is usually gone by day ninety.

Frequently asked questions

How do you recruit concierges?

Say which desk it is (hotel, residential, office or senior living), recruit from front desk agents, hosts, retail and customer service workers and bell staff, and run Facebook and Instagram job ads with a short mobile application. Lead with pay, shift and setting, and call applicants the same day.

Where can I find concierges to hire?

Hotel front desks, restaurant host stands, retail and customer service teams, doormen and bell staff, and people in service jobs reached through social job ads near your property.

How much do concierges make?

The BLS median annual wage for concierges was $38,950 in May 2025. See our concierge job description for the pay section and a template.

Do concierges need experience?

BLS lists a high school diploma or equivalent, no required work experience and moderate-term on-the-job training as typical for concierges. Many employers hire from other guest-facing roles and train.

What screening questions should a concierge application ask?

Shift availability, prior guest-facing experience (for prioritizing, not screening out), languages spoken, and start date. Judge presence and service instinct in person.

What is the difference between a hotel concierge and a residential concierge?

A hotel concierge mostly serves short-stay guests with reservations, recommendations and transportation. A residential concierge serves the same residents every day, handling packages, visitors and requests. Name the setting in the ad so the right people apply.

How much does it cost to recruit a concierge with Facebook ads?

Boostpoint's 2026 benchmark does not break out concierges. Across 891 campaigns the median was $13.88 per applicant, and campaigns with apply rates above 35 percent ran $1.61 per applicant.
